The best training for climbing, is climbing. So, a key part of me preparing to Mount Everest in 2015 is climbing other mountains to build strength, endurance and resilience.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro

In December 2014 I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, a 19,341 foot tall volcano in Tanzania. It is the largest free standing mountain in the world, and as the “roof of Africa” it is the highest African peak which makes it one of the Seven Summits (highest peak on each continent).

It was a very special climb as I reached the summit with my daughter, Jess (age 20).
