Surviving Storms
In life, business and mountaineering,
there will be storms. For climbers, mountain storms bring wind and
snow. For most of us, a storm can bring economic difficulties, a
drastic change of plans, or uncertainty. After 27 years of climbing
high peaks around the world, Jim has endured many storms, and he has
distilled what it takes to succeed when a storm hits, plans change,
or uncertainty looms ahead. Learn how to survive the storms you face
and to thrive once the storm has passed.

face rapidly changing conditions, limited resources and uncertain
team dynamics – just like today’s fast-paced business world. By
examining extreme leadership and teamwork situations, we will

If your organization needs leaders and team
members that are more engaged, active and committed, then Speaking

uncover crucial aspects of leaders, followers and teamwork. In
addition to hands-on experiential learning, the attendees will study
how teams can reach peak performance, even under rapidly changing
conditions. Our practical content stems from academia and from
field-tested knowledge gained during teamwork challenges on high
peaks around the world.
Topics include:
• Foundations of leadership
• Authority to lead
• Leadership styles, methods and techniques
• Teamwork dynamics & the resilient leader
• Developing and leading engaged teams
• Spirited followership*
*Every team not only needs solid leaders, but also engaged followers
Retreat participants are kept invigorated through our rotating
pattern of presentations, small group workshops, large group
discussions, and experiential team-building activities. By
alternating these learning methods we connect with all three types
of adult learners (visual, auditory and kinesthetic) and create a
fun atmosphere. The experiential activities also create meaningful
networking opportunities.
This leadership development retreat can be presented at a location
of your choosing, or we can help you find the optimal locale. The
adventure-based team development activities can be conducted inside
or outside. A ropes course or climbing wall can be utilized if
available, but they are not required – with excellent facilitation,
the best team building usually occurs right on the ground!
As a long-time climbing instructor and trained facilitator, Jim
Davidson can help your group hone their teamwork skills, while
pushing them to grow. We will work with you to customize a
leadership development learning plan that focuses on the goals and
issues most important to your team.
(2 hours to 2 day retreat)
