Jim climbing ice at 11,300 feet in
Rocky
Mountain National Park,
Colorado, Jan 2005 |
Jim Davidson is a life-long mountain climber who has scaled mountains across the United States and around the world for twenty-three years. He is an avid rock climber, ice climber (scaling frozen water falls in the winter time), and alpinist who has climbed in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California, Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.
He has been fortunate enough to go on high-altitude expeditions to Alaska, Argentina, Bolivia and Nepal. Jim was the co-leader of two expeditions for Colorado State University. He has been on a dozen peaks higher than 16,400 feet (5,000 meters), and summited most of them. His highest summit was Aconcagua at 22,834 feet in Argentina. Between these expeditions, long treks, and extended backpacking trips, Jim has spent about a year of his life sleeping in soggy tents!
Jim is trained in advanced first aid, CPR, avalanche safety, and vertical rescue, and he is a Wilderness First Responder. All this has been invaluable on the numerous backcountry rescues that Jim and his partners have volunteered for. The U.S. National Park Service has commended Jim twice for his voluntary efforts on
successful high-altitude rescues, including:
- Denali Pro Award from Denali National Park. Volunteered at 19,000 feet during summit attempt to help save a solo-climber in critical condition.
- Commendation from Rocky Mountain National Park. First responder for an 18-hour, technical rescue of critically injured hiker near summit of Long’s Peak (14,225’)

- Business owner and consultant (1990-present)
- Environmental scientist (BS in Geology; MS in Environmental Geology)
- Industrial painter who scaled high-voltage electrical transmission towers with 250,000 volts running through the wires!
Living in Colorado with his wife and two children, Jim is an active rock climber, ice climber, hiker, runner and skier. Each year, he volunteers to teach hundreds of elementary school children to climb.
